The DAQ (Data AcQuisition application) provides a flexible architecture used to acquire, process, and package data for transfer to analysis and/or visualization software programs. USES: Simulator Baseline Monitor and verify a flight training device’s simulation fidelity and provide independent performance verification. Training Instructors monitor system control and status. Maintenance Enables real-time viewing of system performance.

The DAQ software is the focal point for extracting select simulator state parameters, including capturing and storing audio and video.  It is the critical component of any Data Acquisition System, where the requirement is to capture data from external sources or agents, to optionally perform processing on the select data, and then to package and store the data in a usable format, such as a .CSV file  The DAQ software runs on the Data Acquisition Computer which is connected to the Simulator host computer via an Ethernet connection. It captures data using a configuration specifically designed for each simulator.

DAQ software running on the Data Acquisition Computer provides two levels of control and monitoring of any Data Acquisition System. At the operational level, the DAQ provides system control and status to the instructor at the Instructor Station during a training session. At the maintenance level, the DAQ Control Panel displays information on the Data Acquisition Computer monitor, enabling real time viewing of system performance and status.

The DAQ streams data to the FlightViz and FlightAnalyst software for visualization and analysis.
